Jeff's note - Rob was unable to get the forums to work, and so he emailed me this promo instead. It was on time.

"This is why I need them around," Alex Markham thought to himself as he read the lineup for OLW's End of the Line.

Maybe it's a result of his age and progression towards the "cranky old man" stage of his life, but ever since the various members of the Stone and Steel Syndicate left for their own seperate ventures; Troy Matthews to heal his iinjured ankle, Saori Kazama to take a tour of Mexico and build a strong lucha libre base, and Ryan Andrews to take an extended tour of South Korea, Alex Markham has been somewhat apathetic. He could hardly be bothered to participate in Old Line Wrestling's latest shows, and has pretty much been doing nothing but working out these past few months. That would certainly explain why he entered the shows with a great physique, but hardly any work ethic.

As he put down the note indicating his bout with Crosslatch at End of the Line, he began to think about things, such as the future of his team and the future of himself.

--------------------------------

"We're so glad you could learn with us, Miss Kazama."

"Thank you for all of the help. I'll let my father know about all you've done for me."

These were parting words between Saori Kazama and famed lucha libra trainer El Rayo as the young woman left for her plane in Mexico City. While the reader may not notice this, this dialogue, as well as the dialogue between these two throughout Saori's stay in Mexico, was conducted in Spanish, and in brief times, Portuguese (a throwback to when Shinichiro Kazama was touring Mexico and the very same El Rayo was his main companion; Shinichiro didn't speak any Spanish and El Rayo didn't speak any Japanese, so they agreed to conduct their conversations in Portuguese, both having had exposure to Brazilian culture and martial arts). She smiled at her aged trainer as her plane slowly left the platform and headed on its way to Baltimore, MD.

Here, she learned a great deal about wrestling as an art form, and came to understand that the actions of one in the air is irrelevant compared to how one motivates a crowd and speaks through their work in the ring. She had already known this beforehand, but the reinforcement of this little fact helped her. She knew that she would be ready to assume her part in OLW once again. She had heard neither hide nor hair of Ryan Andrews since he left for his Korean tour, and was curious as to his whereabouts, as she was sure Alex and Troy were back home. In any case, her part of the ordeal facing the team was over, and there was just the ride home.

--------------------------------

"Sooo... you've just done nothing but sit around, work out, and do sudoku puzzles?"

The inquisitive voice of Troy Matthews rang out to the Sentinel as he finished his fortieth pullup. "Yeah," Alex responded. It's not something I'm proud of, but I guess it's the boredom from not having the rest of you around that makes me do it. Well, at least you're here, so maybe I can get motivated to work out now."

The Jersey Devil smiled before gingerly pointing at the medical boot on his foot. "I'm afraid I won't be able to do too many leg workouts with you."

"I know. It's a shame too, because I have Crosslatch at End of the Line."

"Isn't he doing some sort of fake mixed martial arts style now?"

"Yeah. It's quite the sight."

The two laughed heartily for a brief moment while Troy stretched himself out and sat on the living room couch.

"I wonder of Crosslatch knows about your experience as a shoot wrestler?" Troy asked, referring to Alex's initial leg of his Japanese career, working shoot-style promotions that encouraged mat competition.

Yeah, imagine that. Alex Markham a technician.

"Well, if he doesn't know, he's going to find out. I'm actually going to be doing a lot of mat work at the show. It'll add a little effect to the lariat, I imagine."

"It'll be interesting to say the least," Troy responded. "Then what?"

"What else? We bring the Syndicate back in full force to take back the Trios Tag Titles. Saori is on her way back from Mexico. All we need now is RYAN to come back, and we'll be ready."

"Yeah, but I haven't heard from him since he left for Korea."

"True," Alex remarked, "but we'll wait for him. Right now, Saori should be back in Baltimoreat any minute, so let's pick her up."

"Good idea." Troy replied.

The two got up and headed out of their Baltimore apartment, ready to assemble their unit and go back to the top.
